Letterbooks, 1862 Sept.-1868 Nov., of Horatio Collins King, containing copies of his outgoing correspondence written while serving as assistant Lt. Col. Elias Greene, chief quartermaster, and while serving as assistant quartermaster of the 1st Cavalry Division, 1862 Sept.-1866 Jan. The letters are addressed to fellow offices and principally relate to his duties in overseeing the acquisition and distribution of supplies. Included are several letters of recommendation written by Henry Ward Beecher. Later correspondence, 1866 March-1868 Nov., concern his professional activities as a partner in the New York City law firm of King & Lathrop. Correspondents include: Montgomery C. Meigs, Moses Bates, Willim Applegarth & Son, E.K. Boyle, J.B. Wheeler, Caldwell, Taylor & Co., T. Ellis & Brothers, O.E. Maltby & Co., Charles S. Tappen, West & Robeson, Charles B.
